Project Description:

During the spring semester of my junior year, I studied abroad at Santa Reparata International School of Art in Florence, Italy. This experience was both challenging and transformative, as it was my first opportunity to complete design projects outside of LSU.

For this studio, we were tasked with reimagining a preexisting historic church and former convent in Florence, with the freedom to adapt the space for a new program of our choosing. I chose to design a bookstore and coffee shop within a portion of the original structure, thoughtfully integrating contemporary use while respecting the building’s historic character.
